Job Description

Our client, a group of experienced and reputable companies that work together to deliver prestigious projects in Limassol, is looking to immediately hire a Quantity Surveyor for a period of 10 months.

The Quantity Surveyor will report to the project manager and will be responsible for the effective and correct functioning of the Quantity Surveying Site Works.

Responsibilities:

  • Comply with and carry out the Record Keeping systems in respect of variations to the Works, site instructions, standing time, disruptions, idle plant, equipment and labour etc in accordance with company procedures.
  • Submit the necessary monthly list of claims, delays and additional items to the Consultants.
  • Prepare, submit and discuss, with a view to obtaining early approval and payment, monthly applications for payment to ensure optimum cash flow.
  • Prepare, submit and discuss with a view to obtaining early approval and payment, new rates, including submission, negotiation and agreement of the relevant "mark-up" for overheads, on costs and profit.

    Study the Method of Measurement for the Contract and put into effect the early submission and agreement of Final Measure and Final Accounts including pinpointing and notification of "measurement claims".
  • Make notification in good time, submit and agree records in respect of Insurance Claims (storm damage, flood damage, fire damage etc), submit losses and negotiation with Loss Adjusters and Insurers.
  • Study in depth the Tender and Contract Documents, including the Drawings and Specifications, for any "loopholes", peculiarities and any particular notification or payment requirements or procedures contained therein and inform the Project Manager accordingly.
  • Prepare, advise on and negotiate contracts with nominated specialist and domestic subcontractors and suppliers and monitor their performance throughout the duration of the contract, including preparation of materials schedules and placing orders.
  • Investigate and report to the Project Manager grounds for possible contractual claims, set up proper filing system co-ordinate as necessary with Sub-contractors, timely notification to the Employer/Independent Engineer, drafting of legal and contractual letters and documentation, submission of claims, assist in negotiation and finalisation with the Employer/Independent Engineer.
  • Draft documentation relating to disputes, monitoring responses and giving timely notification in respect of period for "Amicable Settlement", Independent Engineer or Dispute Adjudication Panel decisions and Arbitration Proceedings.
  • Investigate grounds for Extension of Time (and conversely avoiding payment of penalties or Liquidated Damages by the Company), monitoring delays and potential delays and co-ordinate with Subcontractors for the proper and timely notification to the Employer/Independent Engineer, drafting of legal and contractual letters, programmes and other documents, submission and assistance in negotiation and finalisation with the Employer/Independent Engineer.
  • Monitoring and advising on all Programmes submitted from site, particularly ensuring that the initial contract programme submitted can be successfully used for subsequent Extension of Time Submissions.
  • Drafting of documentation, submission to the Employer/Independent Engineer, negotiation and finalisation in order that an "Amicable Settlement" can be reached.
  • Drafting documentation and general assistance in the Arbitration Procedure defined by the contract.
  • Monitor and take the necessary action regarding general contractual duties and obligations not referred to above such as retention releases, issue of completion and maintenance certificates.
  • Assist in the preparation of Tenders for sub-contracts including pre-contract measurements and pricing.
  • Monitor progress and performance development of Assistant Quantity Surveyors working under direct control and pricing.

Generally carry out any other duties assigned by the Project Manager.

The successful candidate must be fluent in both Greek and English.

Salary: up to €2.100 monthly gross depending on skills and experience
