Our client is an Accounting firm based in Zebbug in Malta and is looking to employ an Advocate in the Advisory team focusing on Data Protection/GDPR compliance matters for clients. This is an exciting opportunity to get involved and build a consulting career in a challenging area across various industries.
The successful candidate should be a newly graduate with a passion for Data Protection or a drive to learn and hold a University Law degree or equivalent.

Job Responsibilities

  • Help clients develop an understanding of operational processes and controls, and support in assessing their effectiveness in mitigating data protection risks;
  • Carry out GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) readiness assessments at clients;
  • Support clients across their customer privacy queries and complaints;
  • Create and deliver clientsโ€™ employee training and awareness;
  • Develop relevant policies, procedures and standards (privacy, classification, archiving, retention, etc);
  • Support in fulfilling Data Protection Privacy Impact Assessments;
  • Provide ongoing compliance support to clients in relation to GDPR matters;
  • Develop and maintain a strong communication channel with clients at all times;
  • Liaise with the firmโ€™s cyber security team on information security aspects of client engagements.

Requirements

  • An understanding of the Data Protection Act, the EU GDPR and its implications for businesses;
  • An understanding of regulatory compliance, investigation or audit;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills;
  • Comfortable in presenting to and dealing with all levels of staff;
  • Ability to plan, organise and prioritise tasks and projects;
  • Propensity and willingness to take a proactive approach with minimal supervision;
  • Self-motivated, driven to excellence and a keen eye for detail;
  • Willingness to learn and aptitude for acquiring new competencies.
  • Hold a University Law degree or equivalent;
  • Newly graduate with a passion for Data Protection or a drive to learn;
  • Warranted lawyer with up to 2 yearsโ€™ experience preferably in data protection/ privacy aspect.
