Job Description

The Actuarial Assistant deals with the financial impact of risk and uncertainty. Moreover, an Actuarial Assistant provides expert assessments of financial security systems, with a focus on their complexity, their mathematics, and their mechanisms. One of their main responsibilities is to prepare a quarterly report presenting financial information and technical analysis related to each product and the performance of the company in the quarter. As an Actuarial Assistant, you will be:

  • Analysing statistical information to estimate accident, sickness and disability rates.
  • Ascertaining premium rates required and cash reserves and liabilities necessary to ensure payment of future benefits.
  • Collaborating with programmers, underwriters, accounts, claims experts, and senior management to help develop plans for new lines of business or improving existing business
  • Constructing probability tables for events such as fires or natural disasters, based on analysis of statistical data and other relevant information.
  • Designing, reviewing and helping administer insurance plans, determining financial soundness and calculating premiums.
  • Determining or helping to determine company policy, and explaining complex technical matters to company executives, policyholders, and/or the public
  • Determining policy contract provisions for each type of insurance
  • Participating in training and coaching sessions for continuous learning and development

Requirements:

  • University degree in Statistics, Mathematic, Economics, Finance or related field studies
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, the financial markets, banking and the analysis and reporting of financial data
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in similar position
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Greek
  • Computer literacy (MS Office:  Word, Excel, Power Point etc.)
  • Self-disciplined, ability to work under pressure and able to meet deadlines and targets
  • Ability to translate conclusions into plain language
  • Sharp analytical problem solving and project management skills
