The Marine Underwriter Assistant is responsible for deciding on whether requests for Yacht and/or Cargo insurance cover should be accepted by evaluating the degree of risk involved in the likelihood of a claim. The Marine Cargo Underwriter will also be responsible for preparing and analysing reports, identifying and making suggestions for improvement of the department. As a Marine Underwriter Assistant, you will be:
- Performing decision-making in accepting or rejecting a risk.
- Preparing rules based on experience for evaluating risk
- Researching and analysing, preparing and presenting results
- Supporting Customer Service Advisors and Call Centre Advisor with queries regarding underwriting issues
- Preparing and analysing reports
- Ratemaking and pricing
- Participating in training and coaching sessions for continuous learning and development
Requirements:
- University degree in Insurance, Finance, Risk Management or Actuarial
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a similar position
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Greek
- Computer literacy (MS Office: Word, Excel, Power Point etc.)
- Knowledge of the rules and regulations of the country to which ships belong but also about other countries where potential incidents could occur
- Numerical and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to make quick decisions under pressure and to meet strict deadlines
- Active listener with critical thinking, sound judgment and attention to details
- Strong organizational skills
