Job Description

CareerFinders, on behalf of The Bank of Cyprus, one of the Island’s leading and most highly respected Banking Institutions, we are seeking to recruit a Network Communications and Data Centre Engineer to join their expanding team of professionals based in Nicosia.

Role Overview:
 
Responsible to implement, manage and support the Networking and Network Security Systems according to the designs in order to provide the required Networking and Security Services to the Bank and enable the team to meet its goals. He / She will also provide support to the customers of IT for problem resolution in order to provide high quality and smooth operation of Networking Systems.
 
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
 

  • Maintains and supports all Network and Network Security hardware and software.
  • Manages the Branch LAN, Branch Interconnect Network WAN, Data Center Active-Active Network, Perimeter Networks, Network High Availability and Resilience, and External and Internal Network Security.
  • Implement security and/or management tools and practices across infrastructure components and services, relevant to his/her area of responsibility.
  • Design and test recovery procedures for the components under his/her responsibility, and ensure that data and configurations are backed up based on the backup and recovery policy, including Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity scenarios.
  • Ensure that logs of servers, systems, appliances, services, and other components, are recorded, maintained, and analysed for problem resolution, capacity planning, and/or any other related activity.
  • Investigate, diagnose and resolve technical issues relevant to his / her area of responsibility, within the set and agreed SLAs.
  • Manage, maintain and configure network switches, routers, firewalls, and any other network equipment.
  • Ensure that network resources are used effectively, monitors the capacity, and distributes it efficiently to achieve the highest performance.
  • Manage Telephony, Voice, Video, and Unified Communication and Collaboration components, to ensure best quality of service.
  • Analyse and determine appropriate layout of all equipment in the Data Centers, and document all structured cabling, power and space schematics, to ensure accuracy in all of the above.
  • Ensure compliance with the Data Center procedures and policies, according to the Data Center Tier standards.
  • Perform installation and ensure effective layout of all tools in structured cabling industry as per industry practices
  • Interact with the required control functions (e.g. Information Security, Risk, Audit, Compliance) to obtain input when and if required regarding infrastructure network standards.

 
Key Skills/Experience:
 

  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Compute Engineering or related field.
  • Certifications on “CISCO network equipment and technologies”, “Checkpoint firewalls” and “F5 load balancers” will be considered an advantage.
  • 3 + years of relevant industry, field experience preferably in the Banking industry.
  • Knowledge of IT and Information Security regulatory requirements for the Banking industry will be considered an advantage.
  • Significant knowledge of technologies, solutions and trends and deep interest in keeping up to date with technological developments.
  • Knowledge of Network Equipment and Technologies (routers, switches, access points, nac, telephony).
  • Knowledge of Firewalls, Load Balancers, Email Gateways and Web Proxies.
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure architectures, technology and service-oriented practices.
  • Expertise in developing and implementing technical standards and policies.
  • Excellent Written and verbal communication in both Greek & English.
  • Organisational Skills.
  • Superior analytical and problem solving abilities.
  • Good interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage time, workload and multiple tasks.
  • Teamwork.
